Because the Ticket Submitter attribute exposes user names for ticket submitters, the attribute had to be updated to accommodate users who have requested permanent deletion. Ticket submitter names are now hidden from the Zendesk interface for all tickets. To enable reporting in Insights, ticket submitter IDs are exposed instead of names. See example below.
Because this change impacts reporting, Zendesk has provided a workaround that uses the Updater value to get the submitter. This is a global change that impacts all projects. But the change is reversible and will be revoked once Zendesk has a long term solution in place. For more information on how to use the workaround, see Insights recipe: Ticket creation events. This change impacts only the Ticket Submitter attribute, not Ticket Assignee, User, or Updater. For more information on these attributes, see Which user attribute should I use for my Insights report?
