This incident affected one of our US-based data centres, causing slow loading for customers whose accounts are hosted there. The outage was caused by a combination of factors, but the main trigger was the lack of capacity in this data centre and increased strain placed on it by bulk activity on some of our customers' accounts, as well as failed deploys on our side.
To fix the problems, we manually restarted the overloaded servers. To prevent further recurrences, we're working on improving our capacity planning to enable data centres to function normally at times of temporary load spikes.
