The month of May has traditionally marked such events as May Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Labor Day in many countries, not to mention that summer is right around the corner for those of us in the northern hemisphere. But, this May (2018) will be known for another event. May 25, 2018 will forever be known as the effective date of the General Data Protection Regulation in the European Union (EU), more commonly referred to as the GDPR.
The GDPR is the biggest change in data protection laws in Europe since the 1995 introduction of the European Union Data Protection Directive, also known as Directive 95/46/EC or simply the Directive. The GDPR aims to strengthen the security and protection of personal data in the EU and will replace the Directive and all local laws relating to it.
Zendesk has been busy preparing for the GDPR, as the GDPR affects companies around the world, including many Zendesk customers. As part of that preparation, Zendesk created a website dedicated to EU Data Protection, including the GDPR.
We encourage you to visit our EU Data Protection website. There you can get up-to-date information on the GDPR and the features/functionality that Zendesk is providing within its products to assist its customers with their GDPR compliance programs.
